Man Arrested for Attempted Kidnapping at Florida Walmart

LEE COUNTY, Fla. (Gray News) – In a shocking incident, a man was apprehended by Florida authorities for an attempted kidnapping at a local Walmart on Friday.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies quickly responded to a Walmart located in the Lehigh Acres area following reports of an attempted kidnapping.

The suspect, identified as Pablo Pintueles Hernandez, made an audacious attempt to abduct a 4-year-old child from his family while they were shopping.

Eyewitnesses reported that Hernandez forcefully grabbed the child’s wrist, trying to lead him away before a brave family member intervened and managed to pull the child back to safety.

Surveillance footage obtained by the sheriff’s office provided concrete evidence of Hernandez’s alarming actions.

Expressing his concern, Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno stated, “The actions of this criminal are incredibly disturbing.”

Authorities wasted no time and swiftly located Hernandez at his residence, taking him into custody within an hour of the incident.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Hernandez had forcefully grabbed the child’s wrist, physically restraining him while uttering the words, “Let’s go,” in an attempt to coerce the child into accompanying him.

After examining the evidence, detectives established sufficient probable cause to arrest Hernandez on charges of false imprisonment of a child aged 13 years and under.
