Love Triangle on Instagram Leads to Murder: Youngster Arrested

NEW DELHI: In a shocking incident, a love triangle that started on Instagram has taken a deadly turn, resulting in a murder. The prime suspect, Arman Khan, an 18-year-old, is currently in judicial custody. The victim, Mahir, alias Imran, was brutally stabbed 50 times, leading to his death. The incident took place in northeast Delhi’s Bhagirathi Vihar on Wednesday night.

The love triangle involved Arman, Mahir, and a woman who they both met on Instagram. The woman, who remains unnamed, was dating both men simultaneously. However, it seems that Arman was more invested in the relationship than Mahir. This led to a heated argument between Arman and the woman, revealing her preference for Mahir.

Argument Escalates to Murder

During the argument, Arman snatched the woman’s phone from her after discovering her video calls with Mahir. Days later, Arman contacted Mahir and lured him to a location under the pretext of returning the woman’s phone. Tragically, when Mahir arrived at the spot, Arman allegedly stabbed him multiple times, causing his death.

The police swiftly responded to the incident and arrested Arman, along with two of his friends named Faisal (21) and Mohammed Sameer (19). The arrest was made based on the woman’s statement and other supporting evidence.

Investigation and Arrest

Following a PCR call received around 9 pm on December 27, the police registered an FIR for murder. The victim, Mahir, was found lying by the roadside in Bhagirathi Vihar, with numerous stab wounds. The forensic team collected evidence at the crime scene, including a knife believed to be the murder weapon. Mahir, who worked as a supervisor in a company in central Delhi’s Paharganj, was later transferred to the GTB Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

During the investigation, the police analyzed CCTV footage from the vicinity of the crime scene and examined the call records of the deceased. The investigation revealed that Mahir had been in contact with one of the accused before the murder. Additionally, both Arman and Mahir had lengthy conversations with the woman involved in the love triangle. The woman informed the police that Arman had forcefully taken her phone while witnessing her video chat with Mahir.

Based on the woman’s statement and the location of the accused at the time of the incident, the police arrested Arman, Faisal, and Mohammed Sameer. They were produced in court and subsequently sent to judicial custody. The police are preparing to file a chargesheet against the accused at the earliest.
