Woman Shot by Police During Burglary of a Habitation Call in Killeen

Police authorities in Killeen have reported that a woman was shot during a burglary of a habitation call on December 26. According to a news release by the Killeen Police Department, the woman had a knife and allegedly lunged at an officer who was responding to the call.

The incident took place around 12:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Adela Street in Killeen. Following the initial investigation, the woman has been identified as 44-year-old Michele Ero. She has been charged with aggravated assault on a public servant, with three complaints being returned by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office. Subsequently, a warrant for her arrest has been issued by Justice of the Peace Larry Wilkey.

The news release states that upon the officer’s arrival at the scene, they encountered the female suspect who was armed with a knife. The officers repeatedly commanded the suspect to drop the knife, but she allegedly lunged towards the officer. In response, the officer discharged their duty weapon, resulting in the woman being struck by gunfire.
