Nashville Crash Leads to Arrests: Guns and Drugs Found at the Scene

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two individuals who fled the scene of a deadly crash are now facing multiple charges after police discovered firearms and narcotics. The incident took place on Friday, Dec. 29, at around 3 p.m. on Briley Parkway’s northbound lanes, resulting in the closure of a portion of the roadway for several hours.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), the accident involved a 2011 Infiniti G37 travelling at a high speed. The driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to flip multiple times before coming to a stop over a fence in the backyard of a residence on Cabin Hill Road.

Tragically, one of the occupants, identified as 23-year-old Marqueze Boyd, lost his life in the crash. Boyd was rushed to Skyline Medical Center, where he succumbed to a severe head injury sustained during the incident, as determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

While three individuals were inside the Infiniti at the time of the crash, two of them, 20-year-old Terrel Butler and 22-year-old Kiyahn Woods, fled the scene. However, Metro police were later able to locate them hiding behind a shed on Cabin Hill Road.

During a search of the area, officers discovered a backpack hidden beneath the shed. Inside the backpack, they found a substantial amount of marijuana, a pistol, cash, and clothing. Furthermore, an AR-style pistol and additional marijuana were recovered from within the Infiniti itself.

Both Butler and Woods were subsequently taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where they were evaluated and interviewed by detectives. During the interview, Butler, who is believed to have been the driver of the Infiniti, admitted to owning the backpack.

Once released from the hospital, both individuals will be booked on charges of possession of marijuana, leaving the scene of a crash involving a fatality, and felony weapon possession. The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) is currently leading the investigation into the crash, and additional charges related to the incident are expected.

This unfortunate accident serves as a reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the potential consequences that can arise from such actions.
