14-Year-Old Boy Arrested for Allegedly Killing Parents and Injuring Sister in Fresno County, California

(CNN) — A tragic incident unfolded in a rural community in Fresno County, California, on Wednesday, as a 14-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly killing his parents and severely injuring his 11-year-old sister. The suspect, whose identity is being withheld due to his age, initially contacted the sheriff’s office claiming that a break-in had occurred at their residence in Miramonte. However, subsequent investigations revealed inconsistencies in the boy’s account, leading to his arrest.

Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni addressed the media during a news conference on Friday, stating, “Evidence ultimately showed that he had fabricated the story of a break-in and was responsible for using multiple weapons to attack his mom, his dad, and his sister.”

The victims have been identified as Lue Yang and Se Vang, both 37 years old. Their 11-year-old daughter sustained critical injuries and underwent surgery. However, medical professionals expect her to survive. Fortunately, the suspect’s 7-year-old brother was unharmed during the attack. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office has arranged for the care of the surviving sibling through other family members.

The teenage suspect has been taken into custody and is currently held at a juvenile hall. He is facing two murder charges and an attempted murder charge, as confirmed in a news release by the sheriff’s office.

The Fresno County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case, while CNN is working to determine if the suspect has legal representation at this time.

Sheriff Zanoni did not provide specific details regarding the cause of death or the weapons used in the attack. Furthermore, authorities have yet to establish a motive for the killings. Zanoni expressed the magnitude of this tragedy, stating, “The tragedy of the situation is of such a high magnitude because two children have lost their mother and father due to the actions by their other sibling. Those children will grow up without a mother and a father because of this incident.”
