Tragic Accident Claims Three Lives Including an Eight-Month-Old Baby in Coast Region

Coast Region: A devastating accident in the Mbwewe area of Chalinze Council, Bagamoyo District, Coast Region has left three people dead, including a heart-wrenching loss of an innocent eight-month-old baby. Additionally, two individuals have sustained injuries in this unfortunate incident.

According to a press statement released by the respected Coast Regional Police Commander, ACP Pius Lutumo, the accident occurred when a vehicle, bearing the registration number T 395 DWE, was being driven by Mohammed Athumani, a 40-year-old resident of Dar es Salaam. The vehicle was en route to Kabuku in the Tanga Region.

The collision transpired when Mohammed Athumani’s vehicle collided with another parked vehicle bearing registration numbers T. 300 CLE / T. 399 AUP FAW. The stationary vehicle was left unattended by its driver, Alphonse Bosco, a 55-year-old resident of Mabawa, Tanga.

RPC Lutumo expressed his disappointment, stating, “It was due to the negligence of the driver of the parked vehicle with registration numbers T.300 CLE/ T.399 AUP FAW, who left the car unmarked along the road, disregarding the necessity of road signs.”

The tragic accident claimed the lives of three individuals, who have been identified as Zakia Mohammed, a 36-year-old teacher, Nadim Nurdin, a tender eight-month-old baby, and a young girl known only as Goletha, aged 23. In order to preserve their bodies, they have been transferred to Mkata Hospital in Handeni District.

The injured parties in this heart-wrenching incident are Mohammed Athumani, the 40-year-old driver from Dar es Salaam, and Alice Sangule, an eight-year-old primary school student hailing from Kabuku, Tanga. Presently, they are receiving necessary medical attention and care at Mkata Hospital in Handeni District.

This tragic accident highlights the importance of ensuring road safety and responsible driving.
