BENGALURU: Nine-Year-Old Girl Found Dead in Mysterious Circumstances in Prestige Lakeside Habitat Apartment

BENGALURU: A tragic incident unfolded on Thursday night when a nine-year-old girl was discovered under mysterious circumstances inside the swimming pool of Prestige Lakeside Habitat apartment, located off the Varthur-Gunjur Road in Bengaluru’s tech corridor.

The victim has been identified as Manasa, the daughter of Rajesh, an employee at a private company. Rajesh and his family reside in tower 17 of the apartment complex. Manasa was a fourth standard student at a private school.

Rakesh, Manasa’s father, filed a complaint with the Varthur police, suspecting that his daughter died from drowning after accidentally falling into the swimming pool at around 7:30 pm. Rakesh learned about the incident at 8 pm. Manasa was playing with a few other children who lived in the apartment when the tragic event occurred.

After the incident, the young girl was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital in an ambulance. However, upon examination, the doctors declared her brought dead.

Residents of the apartment complex allege that the little girl was electrocuted while playing near the swimming pool, causing her to fall into the water and drown. They claim that a wire from a light pole near the pool was dangling and may have caused the electrocution. The girl purportedly went to retrieve a ball from the pool and tragically got electrocuted.

Authorities who arrived at the scene and the hospital stated that there were no burn injuries on Manasa’s body. However, they have not ruled out the residents’ allegations and are awaiting the postmortem report to determine the exact cause of death. They have not provided any confirmation regarding the presence of a dangling wire near the swimming pool, as the investigation is ongoing.

Tension rose in the apartment complex as other residents learned about the incident and gathered on the road to protest against the apartment association members, accusing them of negligence. The police have registered a case of unnatural death.
