The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), Aparna Rajat Kaushik, informed the media, “An FIR under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code was filed at Naka police station based on the complaint lodged by the deceased’s family. The two accused, Monish Ahmed (25) and Faisal Ahmed (24), were arrested on the same day, and the investigation is ongoing.”

The deceased, Abhinandan Kumar, originally hailed from Ballia and was residing in the Alambagh area of Lucknow. He worked as a salesman in the marketing department of a private multinational company.

Preliminary investigation suggests that Abhinandan was in contact with a woman who was also involved with Monish Ahmed. This led to multiple altercations between Abhinandan and Monish. On Wednesday night, in a fit of anger, Monish, accompanied by his brother Faisal, tracked down Abhinandan near DAV College. They attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon, causing severe injuries to his head and chest. Covered in blood, Abhinandan was rushed to the hospital with the help of locals and the police. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries during the night.

Abhinandan’s brother, Aditya Kumar, who resides in Ballia, informed the police that his younger brother had been receiving threats from Monish Ahmed, Faizal Ahmed, and their associates. These threats were related to a woman who worked with Abhinandan. The situation escalated to a point where Abhinandan felt the need to inform his brother about the ongoing harassment.

At the time of the attack, Monish was riding a scooter borrowed from the same woman with whom Abhinandan was in contact. Abhinandan managed to speak with his brother over the phone before succumbing to his injuries. His brother recalls, “My injured brother told me about the people who had been stalking and harassing him for days. When I reached Lucknow, I discovered that he had passed away.”

It is indeed a tragic incident that highlights the consequences of unresolved love triangles and the dangers of resorting to violence. The police are conducting a thorough investigation to gather more evidence and ascertain the exact sequence of events leading up to the crime.
