Man Charged with Attacking Asian Woman on College Campus

Jeffery Davis, a 40-year-old man, has been accused of brutally attacking a 65-year-old Asian woman, Junko Hanafusa, with a sledgehammer on the El Camino College campus in Torrance. The incident took place on Sunday, December 24, and the victim tragically succumbed to her injuries on Christmas Day.

The El Camino College Police Department initially handled the case and later received assistance from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. While the motive behind the attack has not been disclosed, a spokesperson from the LASD stated that it could be a completely random act of violence.

The incident occurred at around 7 am on the 16000 block of Crenshaw Boulevard in Torrance. Junko Hanafusa was reportedly collecting recyclables on the college campus when she was viciously attacked.
