Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash Claims Two Lives in Lancaster County

Lancaster, S.C. – In a tragic incident, two men lost their lives, while another sustained serious injuries and had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital following a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred in Lancaster County on Friday morning.

The devastating crash took place at approximately 5:10 a.m. on SC 9 near Roy Carnes Road on December 29th.

According to the authorities, a 2016 Infiniti Q50 was traveling west on Pageland Highway, approximately nine miles east of Lancaster, South Carolina, when the accident happened.

Reports suggest that the driver lost control of the vehicle, veered off the right side of the roadway, and collided with a mailbox and a utility pole before overturning.

Tragically, one adult male, identified as 22-year-old Ty’Kezius Benson, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Another individual, Dareon Steward, 21, was transported to MUSC-Lancaster but tragically passed away shortly after arrival.

The third male, who was seated in the rear of the vehicle, was immediately airlifted to a hospital in Charlotte. However, his identity has not been disclosed, and his current condition remains unknown.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the crash and all related circumstances.
