Delivery Boy Fatally Injured in Marol Road Accident

MUMBAI: A tragic incident occurred in Marol on Wednesday when a delivery boy was fatally injured in a road accident involving a speeding BEST bus. The victim, identified as Saurabh Aiyre, was just 22 years old and had been working as a delivery boy for a popular food delivery app for the past four months. He was on his way to deliver a food order when the accident took place, according to the police.

The Sahar police promptly arrested the bus driver, Rupesh Dahiwade, for rash and negligent driving. The accident happened near Marol Metro Station when the BEST bus collided with Aiyre’s bike from behind.

Aiyre’s brother, Akshay, expressed his grief and shared some details about the incident. He mentioned that the bike involved in the accident was purchased by the family after Saurabh got his new job. Akshay stated, “On Wednesday evening, I received a call from my brother’s phone informing me about the accident. I quickly rushed to Marol Naka, where people told me that my brother had been taken to Seven Hills Hospital,” as mentioned in the FIR.

Providing additional information, a police officer revealed that the BEST bus was heading towards Kurla when the accident occurred. The bus driver has been charged under the Indian Penal Code sections 279 (rash driving) and 304 (A) (causing death by negligence).

This unfortunate incident highlights the importance of road safety and the need for drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic rules. Authorities and transport agencies should also take necessary measures to ensure the safety of all road users.
