Man Arrested in Point Blank Standoff Not Wanted for Murder, Authorities Clarify
POINT BLANK, Texas (KTRK) – A man arrested in Point Blank, Texas, after a tense hourslong standoff with authorities, was discovered to be wanted on a burglary charge and considered a person of interest in a fire, not murder, according to law enforcement sources.
The incident unfolded on Thursday afternoon when Sheriff Greg Capers of the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office initially reported that the suspect, later identified as Tyler Williams, had allegedly committed a murder in Polk County and had barricaded himself inside a trailer home on St. Lucia Lane in San Jacinto County.
Authorities stated that the suspect’s girlfriend was also present in the trailer home but managed to escape unharmed.
Law enforcement agencies worked tirelessly for hours to negotiate the suspect’s surrender. Finally, at approximately 5 p.m., the suspect was apprehended, captured by the cameras of ABC13.

During a subsequent press conference, Polk County Sheriff Byron Lyons revealed that the incident stemmed from a house fire on December 23. The occupant of the house was reported missing and remains unaccounted for. Williams is suspected of involvement in the arson and burglary related to the house fire, clarified Sheriff Lyons.
While the suspect has been apprehended, an ongoing investigation is underway to locate the missing person associated with the house fire.
