Tragic Incident Claims Life of 42-Year-Old Welder

A devastating road accident occurred in Banashankari police station limits on Wednesday, resulting in the untimely demise of a 42-year-old welder. The unfortunate incident took place when a speeding Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) garbage truck collided with the victim’s scooter near Bendre Circle.

The deceased, identified as Madassar, was on his way home for a lunch break when tragedy struck. The impact of the collision caused Madassar to lose control of his scooter, leading him to be trapped under the moving wheels of the garbage truck. The severe injuries sustained in the accident proved fatal, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital where medical professionals declared him as brought dead.

Legal Action Taken Against Drunk Truck Driver

The Banashankari traffic police promptly registered a case against the driver of the BBMP garbage truck, Manjunath, aged 50. Subsequent medical examination revealed that Manjunath was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. Consequently, multiple charges have been pressed against him, including rash and negligent driving, drunk driving, and causing death due to negligence. The authorities wasted no time in arresting Manjunath and seizing the truck for further investigation purposes.

Fatal Accident Involving BMTC Bus Claims Another Life

In a separate incident that occurred on the same day, a tragic accident involving a speeding Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus resulted in the death of a 61-year-old woman near Subbaiah Circle in Halasuru Gate police station limits.

The victim, identified as Pushpa, a resident of Cubbonpet, was on her way to a nearby bakery when the speeding bus struck her. Pushpa’s son, Vinay Mani, 35, who owns a hair salon, filed a complaint stating that his mother was crossing the road at Subbaiah Circle when the bus, approaching from Devanga junction, recklessly knocked her down. The impact was severe, causing Pushpa to sustain critical head injuries and profuse bleeding from the nose. Despite the efforts of passersby who rushed her to Victoria Hospital, doctors pronounced her as brought dead.

Bus Driver Apprehended for Negligent Driving

Swift action was taken by concerned citizens who managed to apprehend the bus driver, identified as Nagaraja H., and handed him over to the police for further investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that Nagaraja, aged 35, was operating an electrical bus and his rash and negligent driving directly caused the fatal accident. Based on the filed complaint, the police have registered a case against Nagaraja, charging him with rash and negligent driving as well as causing death due to negligence. Nagaraja underwent a medical examination, and the results are currently pending.
