32-Year-Old Woman Allegedly Raped by Drivers of Senior Officials in Jharkhand

A disturbing incident of sexual assault has come to light in the Palamu district of Jharkhand, where a 32-year-old woman was allegedly raped by two drivers employed by senior officials. The accused individuals, identified as Dharmendra Kumar (30), a driver in the escort of the Palamu Deputy Commissioner, and Prakash Kumar (40), a driver at the residence of the Palamu Superintendent of Police, have been apprehended by the authorities.

According to the complaint filed by the victim, the horrifying incident took place on the morning of Thursday, December 28th. The woman had just arrived at the Daltonganj Railway Station and proceeded to a nearby mobile recharge shop. It was during this time that the two drivers, under the guise of assisting her with the recharge, engaged her in conversation. Subsequently, they forcibly took her to the residents’ quarters, where they allegedly subjected her to a gangrape. The victim’s complaint further stated that the perpetrators threatened to harm her if she dared to disclose the ordeal to anyone.

The woman, determined to seek justice, promptly lodged a formal complaint at the town police station. Thanks to the swift and efficient response from the authorities, the accused were apprehended within a mere two hours of the incident being reported.

Palamu Superintendent of Police, Rishma Ramesan, has expressed her deep concern over the incident and assured that strict action will be taken against the culprits. The gravity of the situation demands that justice be served promptly and effectively.

In order to gather crucial evidence and provide medical assistance to the victim, both the accused individuals and the woman were taken to Medinirai Medical College and Hospital for a comprehensive medical examination. This step ensures that the necessary medical records are obtained, forming a vital part of the investigation process.
