Illinois Man Arrested After Leading Police on a Pursuit in Kenosha County and Lake County, Illinois

KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. – A 31-year-old man from Illinois was apprehended by authorities on Friday, Dec. 29 following a high-speed chase that spanned across Kenosha County in Wisconsin and Lake County in Illinois.

According to the Kenosha Police Department, the pursuit was initiated after a police officer attempted to pull over the suspect’s vehicle for a traffic violation near the intersection of 52nd Street and Green Bay Road.

In a desperate attempt to evade capture, the driver promptly switched off his headlights and sped away from the scene.

Authorities revealed that the same vehicle had been involved in two prior pursuits with the Pleasant Prairie Police Department.

In an effort to impede the suspect’s escape, spike strips were deployed, resulting in the deflation of the front driver’s side tire. However, the determined individual persisted in his attempt to flee.

During the pursuit, the suspect intentionally rammed into a squad car belonging to the Pleasant Prairie Police Department while heading west on HWY 50.

The chase continued through various areas, including Kenosha, Pleasant Prairie, and ultimately entered Lake County, Illinois.

Despite the front driver’s side tire being completely detached from the rim, the suspect persistently evaded capture.

Eventually, the suspect’s vehicle began to slow down, providing an opportunity for a Kenosha Police Department officer to employ their own vehicle to compel the suspect to surrender.

Upon further investigation, the authorities identified the suspect as a 31-year-old man from Waukegan, Illinois. In addition to charges related to fleeing and eluding an officer, the individual may also face charges of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI), possession of cocaine, and bail jumping.
