Fayetteville Teen Found After Being Lured Across State Lines to Kentucky

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — In a shocking turn of events, a 16-year-old girl from Fayetteville was discovered on Christmas Day in Kentucky, after allegedly being lured across state lines by a 34-year-old man. The suspect, identified as Zackary Jones, had been communicating with the teenager on Facebook, where he deceitfully claimed to be 19 years old. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office in Kentucky was instrumental in locating the missing girl, who had been reported missing on December 8 to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon receiving a call from Jones’ mother regarding an altercation between her son and his supposed girlfriend, deputies responded to Jones’ home in the Kings Mountain area of Kentucky. However, upon arrival, they found only Jones and his mother. Initially denying the girl’s presence, Jones was soon discovered to be lying. As deputies conducted a search of the premises, they stumbled upon cocaine, which Jones attempted to dispose of hastily in a wood stove located in his bedroom. Consequently, he was promptly arrested and placed in a police cruiser.

As the search for the missing girl continued, a hidden trap door concealed beneath a rug in Jones’ bedroom was discovered by the deputies. To everyone’s relief, the found teenager turned out to be the same 16-year-old girl who had been reported missing in Fayetteville on December 8.

During her interview with the authorities, the girl disclosed that Jones had picked her up in North Carolina and transported her to Kentucky. Shockingly, since his arrest, Jones has confessed to engaging in drug use with the girl and having a sexual relationship with her. At the time of her discovery, the girl appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

Moreover, deputies uncovered a disturbing revelation – Jones had repeatedly threatened the girl’s life, even going so far as to tell her that he would “take a 22-pistol and kill her.” As a result, a weapon was seized as evidence.

When CBS 17 reached out to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office to inquire about potential charges Jones may face in North Carolina, they confirmed that as of Thursday at 4 p.m., no charges were pending.
