“Tragic Texas Crash Claims Lives of Six Family Members, Including Rushil Barri, Leaving One Survivor”

Accident – death – Obituary News : Six members of the same family tragically lost their lives in a devastating car accident in Texas on Tuesday. The incident occurred when a pickup truck, driven by a 17-year-old, collided head-on with the minivan carrying the family. The pickup truck was traveling in the wrong direction on the highway, leading to the fatal crash.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Rushil Barri, a 28-year-old resident of Irving, was driving his family back home in a Honda Odyssey after visiting the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. Unfortunately, Barri and five of his six passengers, including two young children aged 10 and 9, lost their lives in the collision.

The only surviving passenger, a 43-year-old man, suffered critical injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment. The teenage driver of the pickup truck also sustained critical injuries. The identities of the people involved in the accident have been released. The deceased individuals were identified as Naveena Potabathula (36), Nageswararao Ponnada (64), Sitamahalakshmi Ponnada (60), Krithik Potabathula (10), and Nishidha Potabathula (9). It is worth noting that all the victims, except for Barri, were from Georgia.

A close friend and roommate of Barri, Ayyappala Bandaru, expressed his shock and grief over the incident. Recalling the tragic events, Bandaru revealed that Barri was traveling with his cousin, cousin’s wife, two young children, and in-laws when the accident occurred. The news of the crash left Bandaru and others in a state of disbelief, as they desperately tried to reach out to their loved ones in the minivan, but received no response.

Barri, who migrated to the United States from India in August 2020, was described by Bandaru as an ambitious individual with big dreams. Bandaru shared that they were like brothers and that Barri always had a forward-thinking mentality, often discussing their aspirations of making a mark in the world. He further emphasized the struggles they had faced since their arrival in the US.

Sgt. William Lockridge of the Texas Department of Public Safety acknowledged that the exact reason behind the teenage driver’s decision to travel in the wrong direction on the highway remains unclear. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of this tragic accident.
