Driver Arrested After SUV Crashes into Passenger Shed, Killing Three in Dhaka
In a tragic incident on Wednesday night, an SUV crashed into a passenger shed in Dhaka’s Khilkhet. The accident resulted in the death of three people and left one person injured. The driver of the SUV, identified as Dilshan, has been arrested by the police.
The arrest of Dilshan came after a case was filed by the husband of victim Amrina at the local police station. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Aminul Bashar confirmed the arrest and stated, “Dilshan was apprehended on Thursday based on the complaint filed by the husband of Amrina.”
The victims of the accident were identified as Yasin, 8, Amrina Haque, 34, and Ujjal Pandey, 26. Yasin tragically died on the spot, while Amrina Haque and Ujjal Pandey succumbed to their injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where they were undergoing treatment.
Immediately after the incident, the SUV was seized, but the driver managed to flee the scene. Efforts were made by the authorities to track down the driver, leading to Dilshan’s arrest. The details regarding the motive behind the accident are still under investigation.

Yasin’s father, Sumon, is currently receiving treatment at the orthopedic department of the casualty block at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. His condition remains stable, and medical staff are closely monitoring his progress.
Sub-inspector (SI) Mosharraf of Khilkhet police station mentioned that the bodies of the deceased were handed over to their respective families without undergoing an autopsy. This decision was made following an appeal by the families, respecting their wishes and cultural practices.
