Police detain cop for opening fire on labourers in Karachi

Karachi Police Detain Cop

KARACHI – In a shocking incident, the police have detained a cop after he allegedly opened fire on two labourers following an altercation near Gate No 1 of the New Sabzi Mandi on the Superhighway. The incident took place on Wednesday, leaving both labourers injured.

The injured individuals, identified as 25-year-old Ilyas Ejaz and 35-year-old Imran Fateh Sher, were immediately rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable.

According to the uncle of the injured labourers, Ilyas and Imran, who are residents of Jamali Goth, were on their way to work at a housing society when they stopped near the vegetable market to seek directions. It was at this point that a man, with his face covered and not wearing a police uniform, started honking at them from behind. The situation escalated into a heated argument and eventually turned physical.

In a shocking turn of events, the alleged policeman took out a weapon and aimed it at the labourers. Sensing danger, Ilyas attempted to record a video of the masked man claiming to be a cop using his mobile phone. However, this provoked the alleged policeman, who fired a shot at Ilyas, injuring him.

Expressing his disbelief, Ilyas stated that if the individual was indeed a policeman, he should have been in uniform. The incident has raised concerns about the behavior and professionalism of law enforcement officers.
