A tragic incident occurred in Florence, Kentucky, during the early hours of Thursday morning, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. The Florence Police Department responded to a distress call at approximately 12:29 AM, reporting a collision on Houston Road, just south of Merchants Street.

Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement found that a car had collided with a pedestrian in the left southbound lane on Houston Road. After conducting a thorough investigation, the police determined that the vehicle involved in the accident was a Honda Civic, which was traveling southbound on Houston Road in the left lane at the time of the incident. Unfortunately, the pedestrian was crossing Houston Road and was struck by the Honda Civic, as the driver was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) from Florence promptly reached the scene and declared the pedestrian, identified as 65-year-old Carl Ickes from Commerce Township, Michigan, deceased due to the severity of his injuries. The driver of the Honda Civic, on the other hand, did not sustain any injuries.

The Florence Police Accident Reconstruction Team has been assigned to investigate the collision further and gather additional evidence to determine the exact circumstances leading to this tragic incident.

Although the investigation is still ongoing, based on preliminary information obtained from anonymous police sources, it is believed that the driver of the Honda Civic will not face any charges. Additionally, there is no indication that Mr. Ickes had any ulterior motives while crossing the street, suggesting that his death was a tragic accident.
