Second Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting on Garfield Street in LaGrange, Georgia

LaGrange, Georgia – The LaGrange Police Department has recently made a significant breakthrough in the investigation of the fatal shooting that occurred on Garfield Street on December 20th. Authorities have apprehended a second suspect, 21-year-old Jesse Houston, in connection with this tragic incident.

Houston, now in custody, faces several serious charges related to the shooting. He has been charged with felony murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and criminal attempt sale of marijuana.

The incident unfolded around 7 p.m. on December 20th when LaGrange police officers swiftly responded to a call reporting gunshots in the 100 block of Garfield Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Jonathan Daniel, who had sustained a gunshot wound, and unfortunately, he was pronounced dead shortly after.

Following a thorough investigation carried out by the LaGrange Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, it was revealed that the suspect, Antonio Stephens, and the deceased, Jonathan Daniel, had conspired to commit an armed robbery against Jesse Houston.

According to investigators, during the robbery attempt, Jonathan Daniel brandished a firearm in an effort to intimidate and steal from Houston. In self-defense, Houston responded by firing his own weapon, fatally injuring Daniel.

Antonio Stephens, previously arrested on December 21st, has already been charged with felony murder in connection with this incident.

The LaGrange Police Department’s investigation into this case is still ongoing, as detectives continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses. They are urging anyone with information related to the shooting to come forward and assist in the investigation.
