Authorities reveal the names of officers involved in the recent Eastmont Avenue incident

East Wenatchee Police Confrontation

EAST WENATCHEE – In the aftermath of the recent incident on Eastmont Avenue, where a suspect was wounded, the authorities have now released the names of the four Wenatchee Valley police officers who discharged their firearms.

The incident, which took place on December 17, involved Troy A. McMaster, a 54-year-old resident of East Wenatchee. McMaster allegedly rammed his vehicle into the Wenatchee VA medical center and proceeded to fire gunshots into the unoccupied building. Following a pursuit into Douglas County, the situation escalated resulting in three Chelan County sheriff’s deputies and one Wenatchee Police Department officer firing their weapons. Douglas County Undersheriff Tyler Caille conveyed this information in a press release on Thursday.

The officers involved have been identified as Chelan County Sheriff’s Sgts. Adam Musgrove and Brian Lewis, Chelan County Deputy Andrew Tilton, and Wenatchee Police Officer Erik Magnussen. While the incident is being reviewed by the North Central Washington Special Investigation Unit, all four officers have been placed on administrative leave as a standard procedure.

According to the authorities, the confrontation occurred when the officers stopped McMaster’s vehicle on Eastmont Avenue around 11:15 p.m. on December 17. Subsequently, McMaster exited his vehicle and confronted the responding officers while still armed. In response to the imminent threat, the officers discharged their firearms, striking McMaster multiple times. He is currently receiving medical care at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Although McMaster has been arrested on suspicion of assault and other related offenses, no formal criminal charges have been filed against him at this time.

The North Central Washington Special Investigation Unit, responsible for reviewing incidents involving the use of force by law enforcement officers, will thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding the Eastmont Avenue confrontation. As the investigation continues, the community awaits further updates regarding the outcome of this incident.
