Arrest Made in Marion, Illinois Following ‘Burglary in Progress’ Investigation

MARION, Ill. (KFVS) – An investigation into a ‘burglary in progress’ call has resulted in the arrest of a man in Marion, Illinois.

Responding to the incident, law enforcement officers swiftly arrived at the Ameren Illinois property located on the 1800 block of West Main Street on Tuesday, December 26.

Upon conducting a thorough investigation, it was determined that multiple vehicles parked on Ameren’s property had been unlawfully accessed and rummaged through.

During the search for the suspect, officers discovered various tools, discarded clothing, and signs of disturbance leading from a ditch into a nearby wooded area.

Marion Police authorities confirmed that the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Scott O. Swanson, was apprehended without any resistance.

According to police reports, Swanson readily confessed to the officers, leading to the recovery of all stolen property.

Following the arrest, Scott Swanson was promptly issued a burglary citation and subsequently booked into the Williamson County Jail, where he awaits his first court appearance.
