SHEFFIELD, Ala. (WHNT) – Authorities have confirmed that the body discovered in Sheffield on Wednesday afternoon has been identified as that of a missing 25-year-old individual.

Detective Kenneth Elkins from the Sheffield Police Department reported that the body was found at approximately 2:30 p.m. in the vicinity of Crestline Avenue and 14th Street, along the woodline.
In a recent statement, Elkins revealed that the body has been identified as Christopher Austin Williams. Williams had been reported missing by his family on December 18.
