Vermont State Police Identify Deceased Man Found in Newport

NEWPORT, Vt. – Vermont State Police have revealed the identity of the man who was discovered dead in the town of Newport. The deceased individual has been identified as 58-year-old Donald Coull, who resided at 107 Lawson Rd. where this tragic incident took place.

An autopsy was conducted on Wednesday by the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office, and it was determined that the cause of death was a stab wound to the chest. However, the exact circumstances surrounding the death are still under investigation. Authorities have stated that the toxicology results required to provide further information may not be available for several weeks or even months.

Another individual involved in the incident is 39-year-old Trevor Stone, who resides in a camper on the property. Stone sustained a laceration/stab wound and was promptly treated at North Country Hospital. Fortunately, he has been discharged following medical care.

The Vermont State Police are actively continuing their investigation into this distressing event. The authorities are working diligently to uncover additional details and determine the events that led to the tragic outcome.
