Zambia: Man in Kanong’esha Chiefdom Beaten to Death by Wife and Stepson

A tragic incident unfolded in the Kanong’esha Chiefdom of Zambia, where a 51-year-old man identified as Gidson Chifokolo was brutally beaten to death by his wife and stepson. The altercation between the husband and wife escalated, leading to this unfortunate outcome. Gidson Chifokolo, a resident of Masachi village in Mwinilunga District, became the victim of this horrifying act.

Prior to the incident, the victim was reportedly engaged in a dispute with his wife. The disagreement reached a boiling point, resulting in the wife and her 25-year-old stepson carrying out the fatal attack on Gidson Chifokolo.

Dennis Moola, the Commanding Officer of the Northwestern Province Police, revealed that the victim succumbed to the injuries inflicted by the two suspects. The crime took place in the Ntambu Sachitolo area between the 24th and 25th of December 2023, during the hours of 18:00 and 10:00.

The incident was reported to the police by the victim’s brother, Kellies Chifokolo, on December 25, 2023, approximately at 12:00 hours. Preliminary investigations indicate that sticks were allegedly used as weapons during the attack.

“This occurred between the 24th of December, 2023, around 18:00 hours and the 25th of December, 2023, around 10:00 hours at Masachi village in the Ntambu Sachitolo area of Mwinilunga district,” stated Dennis Moola, the Commanding Officer.

Upon reaching the crime scene, the police discovered the lifeless body of Gidson Chifokolo lying in a pool of blood. The body was found in a nearby bush, approximately 20 meters away from the houses.

Upon conducting a physical examination of the body, officials discovered multiple cuts on the victim’s head. The investigation into this heinous crime has commenced, and the suspects were apprehended by members of the public before being handed over to the police.

A murder case docket has been opened, and arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Meanwhile, the body of Gidson Chifokolo has been taken to the mortuary at Mwinilunga district hospital, where it awaits a postmortem examination.

The shocking news has stirred emotions on social media, with users expressing their condolences to the bereaved family and loved ones of the deceased. Many are demanding justice to be served and for the perpetrators of this crime to face appropriate punishment.
