23-Year-Old Woman Allegedly Kills Policeman in Imo State

A 23-year-old woman named Amanda Uchechi Ugo has been accused of fatally shooting a police officer, Cosmas Ugwu, attached to the Imo State Police Command. The incident occurred on Boxing Day near the Ezinihitte Area Command following an altercation between the suspect and the victim.

Reports suggest that the police officer sustained three gunshot wounds, two on his chest and one on his hand, leading to his untimely demise. The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, confirmed the tragic incident and informed DAILY POST about the arrest of the suspect.

After the shooting, the injured officer was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by his colleagues. Unfortunately, despite receiving medical treatment, he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Okoye stated that a thorough forensic investigation would be conducted before the suspect is arraigned in court. The suspect, Amanda Uchechi Ugo, will be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further questioning and processing.

“The incident is a very unfortunate one. This thing happened two days ago. She allegedly shot the officer, and he was immediately rushed to a hospital where he died while receiving treatment,” Okoye said.

The tragic incident has left the community in shock and mourning. The motive behind the shooting is yet to be determined, and investigators will delve into the circumstances surrounding the altercation between Amanda Uchechi Ugo and the deceased police officer.

Once the forensic investigation is completed, the suspect will face appropriate criminal charges in court.
