21-Year-Old Arrested in Marion County Shooting Death of Girlfriend

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A 21-year-old man who was on the run for over two weeks after allegedly shooting his girlfriend to death in Marion County earlier this month has been apprehended and appeared before a judge on Thursday morning.

Saul Garcias Macias, the suspect, was arrested on Wednesday following a manhunt conducted by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The victim, Sofia Lugo, was found dead on December 10th in a residence located in the 1000 block of NW 111th Court in Dunnellon.

Authorities revealed that Garcia Macias, who allegedly entered the U.S. illegally, has a history of leaving the country whenever he encounters legal trouble. Detectives are requesting that he be held without bond due to these circumstances, as stated in a news release.
