Deadly Shooting at Citadel Mall in Colorado Springs Leaves One Dead and Several Injured

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Authorities are currently investigating a tragic incident that occurred on Christmas Eve at the Citadel Mall in Colorado Springs, resulting in the death of one individual and leaving several others injured. As of Thursday morning, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

Following the unfortunate incident, the Citadel Mall resumed its operations on Tuesday, albeit with a heavy atmosphere hanging over the premises. However, despite the incident, shoppers have shown resilience and continue to visit the mall during the holiday season.

The Colorado Springs Police Department has now identified the victim as 18-year-old Teryus Thomas, a resident of Colorado Springs.

According to authorities, the Colorado Springs Police received a distressing call reporting shots fired at approximately 4:34 p.m. on Sunday. The incident took place inside the Citadel Mall, which was bustling with holiday shoppers.

In a statement released by the police, it was revealed that a violent altercation had erupted between two groups of people, leading to the tragic outcome. Sadly, one adult male was discovered deceased within the mall premises, succumbing to a gunshot wound. Additionally, two adult males sustained serious injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals, each with at least one gunshot wound.

A female individual also suffered minor injuries and was promptly taken to the hospital. Fortunately, she has since been released, and her injuries were not life-threatening.

Authorities have reassured the community that there is currently no known ongoing threat related to the incident.
