Transgender Person Shot Dead in Peshawar: Investigation Underway
PESHAWAR: A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon as an unidentified assailant gunned down a transgender individual near the Government College Chowk in Hashtnagri locality, located in the provincial capital of Peshawar, Pakistan. The victim, identified as Noor Mohammad alias Ubaiday, an Afghan national, was residing in the Patang Chowk area at the time of the incident.

Authorities from the Gulfat Hussain Shaheed police station reported that the motive behind the heinous crime remains unclear, leading to the delay in filing a First Information Report (FIR). The police launched a thorough investigation to identify the culprits and bring them to justice.
A statement released by the police revealed that the transgender person was attacked by unknown assailants riding a motorcycle near the Government College Chowk. Swiftly responding to the crime scene, the police officers immediately transported the deceased to a nearby hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Unfortunately, no identification documents were found on the victim’s body, complicating the process of establishing their true identity. However, the police managed to secure empty bullet casings from the crime scene and are actively collecting CCTV footage from the surrounding area, hoping to find crucial evidence that will aid in the investigation.
Meanwhile, an insider source from the police department disclosed to Dawn that a suspect named Babar Ali has been identified as the perpetrator in this tragic incident. The source further revealed that the accused had a close relationship with the victim and photographs of Babar Ali were discovered in Ubaiday’s residence, strengthening the suspicions against him.

This heart-wrenching incident marks the second murder of a transgender individual in Peshawar within a month. Previously, on November 10th, another transgender person named Ghazal was fatally stabbed in the Faqeerabad police station area.
As the investigation continues, authorities are committed to ensuring justice for the victims and taking necessary steps to prevent such heinous crimes in the future.
