“Tragic Road Accidents in Uttar Pradesh Claim Lives of Nine People, Including Students”

Accident – death – Obituary News : Nine people, including two students, tragically lost their lives and approximately forty-eight others sustained injuries in multiple road accidents caused by thick fog across Uttar Pradesh. The incidents occurred from the early hours until morning on Wednesday, according to the state police.

Reports indicate that two women, who were pilgrims from Punjab and Meerut, were among the casualties, while more than a dozen others suffered injuries in two accidents in western UP. The first mishap took place on Tuesday night on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway near Khekra in Baghpat district.

The ill-fated mini-bus carrying the pilgrims was returning from Vrindavan when it collided with a truck loaded with wood near Khekra. The accident occurred due to low visibility caused by the dense fog. Tragically, 44-year-old Seema and 38-year-old Mandeep died on the spot, while several other pilgrims sustained injuries, as confirmed by the police.

All the injured passengers were rushed to the district hospital in Baghpat, while the bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examination.

In a separate incident, Rajkumar Sonkar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahanagar general secretary of Meerut, lost his life after being struck by an unidentified vehicle in dense fog near the Circuit House of Civil Lines police station area. Sonkar, who ran a fruits and vegetables business in Lohia Nagar market, was riding his scooter to Lohia Nagar Mandi around 5 am on Wednesday when the accident occurred. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Upon receiving the information, the Civil Lines police reached the spot and had the body sent for a post-mortem examination. Inspector Mahesh Rathore stated that investigations were underway to determine the details of the incident.

In another unfortunate incident, a sleeper bus-container collision on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway resulted in a series of collisions involving two passenger buses en route to Delhi. One individual lost their life, and sixteen others sustained injuries, with seven of them reported to be in critical condition.

The deceased was identified as 40-year-old Vijay Singh from Gonda. Singh was traveling in a Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSTRC) bus that collided with a stationary truck parked on the roadside near Nisarpur village in Bangarmau, as the driver’s visibility was severely hampered by the fog. The collision triggered a chain reaction, causing two intercity buses and three other vehicles to collide with each other.

Similarly, on the Kanpur-Prayagraj highway near Khaga, a total of seventeen vehicles were involved in accidents. Eleven individuals sustained injuries, and unfortunately, one person lost their life on the Hardoi-Sitapur highway, as confirmed by the police.

Meanwhile, due to heavy fog on Wednesday morning, four individuals, including an elderly woman, lost their lives, while several others sustained injuries in two mishaps in the Handia area.

In the first incident, two young men identified as 22-year-old Shivam Patel and 23-year-old Sugreev Patel from Rajapur in Soraon area tragically lost their lives when their motorcycle was crushed by two heavy vehicles near Handia toll plaza at around 7 am. The duo was on their way to Mirzapur to appear in an ‘O’ level computer examination. As they stopped behind a stationary container near a local eatery close to the Handia toll plaza, a dumper truck coming from behind collided with the container, resulting in the tragic incident. The victims were pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby Community Health Center (CHC).

An hour later, the second incident occurred on the Prayagraj-Varanasi highway near Upardaha village. According to locals, a bus transporting passengers had stopped near Upardaha. As some passengers disembarked and headed towards a nearby shop, an SUV traveling from the direction of Varanasi collided with them. A 72-year-old woman named Vibha Agarwal from Dehradun lost her life in the mishap, while four others sustained injuries. The driver of the SUV, Rahul, also suffered injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at SRN Hospital.

The deceased woman and the other passengers were pilgrims en route to Varanasi from Dehradun.

These tragic incidents highlight the dangers posed by dense fog on the roads, especially during the winter season. Authorities urge motorists to exercise caution, drive at reduced speeds, and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles to prevent accidents in such challenging weather conditions.
