Amalapuram:
In a tragic incident, six relatives of Mummidivaram MLA P Venkata Satish Kumar, hailing from Amalapuram town in Andhra Pradesh’s Konaseema district, were killed on the spot in a car accident in Cleburne city, Texas, on Tuesday evening. The deceased have been identified as P Nageshwar Rao, Seetha Mahalakshmi, Naveena, Kruthik, Nishitha, and one other family member.

The devastating mishap occurred when a car carrying seven individuals collided head-on with a truck on Highway 67, a farm-to-market road in Cleburne. The collision resulted in the immediate demise of the six family members, while the sole survivor, Lokesh, has been airlifted to a nearby hospital. Lokesh’s condition remains critical, according to MLA P Venkata Satish Kumar.

Local media reports in the United States have indicated that the two occupants in the truck also sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment. The local police authorities have attributed the accident to the truck driver’s negligence. In a statement to PTI, Kumar said, “My uncle, aunt, their daughter, two grandchildren, and another relative died in the accident when a 17-year-old American boy driving the truck collided with their car.” The tragic incident took place at 4 pm local time on Tuesday, claiming the lives of six of their family members.

The ill-fated group had traveled to Texas from Atlanta, Georgia, to celebrate Christmas with their relatives. After spending time with their loved ones, they decided to visit a local zoo park before heading back. Unfortunately, their joyful journey turned into a nightmare, leaving the entire family devastated. MLA P Venkata Satish Kumar expressed his gratitude to the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) for extending their support in repatriating the bodies of the deceased.

P Nageshwar Rao, who was the younger brother of Kumar’s father, was a resident of Amalapuram. His daughter, who also tragically lost her life in the accident, resided in Atlanta. Kumar, a two-time MLA and a member of the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh, is deeply saddened by this immense loss suffered by his family and the community.
