Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Deadly Shooting

LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting an investigation into a tragic incident involving a domestic disturbance that resulted in a fatal shooting.

On the evening of Friday, December 22nd, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the LCSO received an emergency call and dispatched their deputies to the South Georgia Medical Center. The call reported an individual who had sustained a gunshot wound and required immediate medical attention, according to officials.

The victim, a young thirteen-year-old male, was quickly rushed to the hospital by a private vehicle. Despite the valiant efforts of medical professionals, sadly, the victim was pronounced deceased.

Based on preliminary findings, it has been revealed that the shooting occurred following a domestic disturbance that took place within a residence. Tragically, the victim became the target of the assailant’s lethal actions.

The suspect in this case has been identified as Lavonte Seward Jr., a thirty-eight-year-old individual. Law enforcement authorities have taken Seward into custody, and he is currently being held at the Lowndes County Jail. Seward has been charged with murder, and it is anticipated that additional charges will be forthcoming as the investigation progresses.
