Seaside business owner’s truck destroyed in high-speed chase crash

A Seaside business owner’s truck was severely damaged after a van involved in a police chase crashed into it on Christmas day. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office reported that the police attempted to stop a van connected to a theft in Monterey on Christmas. However, the van refused to comply and a high-speed pursuit ensued. The chase initially began on Laureles Grade and continued onto Highway 68 towards Monterey. It was at the intersection of Highway 68 and Highway 218 where the van collided with the truck, causing extensive damage. The truck in question belonged to Alejandro Tuesta, the proprietor of Oli’s Cheesesteaks, a well-established mobile food service business, and unfortunately, it was completely totaled. Thankfully, Tuesta escaped the incident without any injuries. Following the crash, law enforcement apprehended the three occupants of the van, identified as Jonathan Conner, 37, Amber Balgua, 34, and Terry Hunt, 65, all residents of Salinas.

According to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement initiated a traffic stop on a van believed to be involved in a theft in Monterey on Christmas. Instead of complying, the van’s driver accelerated, leading to a high-speed pursuit.

The chase began on Laureles Grade and continued onto Highway 68, heading towards Monterey. It was at the intersection of Highway 68 and Highway 218 that the van collided with the truck, resulting in severe damage.

The truck belonged to Alejandro Tuesta, the owner of Oli’s Cheesesteaks, a highly regarded mobile food service business. Unfortunately, the collision rendered the truck completely unusable. Fortunately, Tuesta emerged from the crash unscathed.

Following the incident, law enforcement successfully apprehended the van’s three occupants. The suspects have been identified as Jonathan Conner, 37, Amber Balgua, 34, and Terry Hunt, 65, all of whom reside in Salinas.
