Rosemary Meza Charged with Murder of Girlfriend and Girlfriend’s Mother

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Rosemary Meza, a 37-year-old woman, is facing two murder charges for the deaths of her girlfriend, Alyssa Valdovinos, 26, and her girlfriend’s mother, Norma Rios-Valdovinos, 58. The North Las Vegas Police Department obtained video evidence showing Meza dumping Rios-Valdovinos’ body on the side of the road before allegedly killing her second victim.

On September 18, police received a report of a woman’s body lying on the road near Magnet Street. The woman, later identified as Norma Rios-Valdovinos, was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased. Detectives noticed deep ligature marks on her neck, suggesting she had been attacked and defended herself.

Later that day, Meza was involved in a car crash at the intersection of Alexander Road and North 5th Street. While speaking with Meza, officers discovered she matched the description of the person seen in the surveillance video near the location where Rios-Valdovinos’ body was found.

Upon further investigation, police performed a welfare check at Alyssa Valdovinos’ residence, which was only a block away from where Rios-Valdovinos’ body was discovered. Inside the home, they found Alyssa Valdovinos dead on the floor, with signs suggesting she had been strangled.

During her arrest, Meza made a shocking statement to a North Las Vegas police officer, admitting to killing her girlfriend. She expressed remorse, telling the officer that she was a bad person and that she should be killed. Authorities also noticed smeared blood and shoelaces in Meza’s car, leading prosecutors to suspect that she used the shoelaces to kill both victims.
