Police Pursuit in Lubbock, Texas Leads to Arrest of Wanted Gang Member

LUBBOCK, Texas – On 27th December 2023, around 12:30 PM, the Texas Anti-Gang Unit initiated a traffic stop in an attempt to apprehend a wanted gang member with outstanding felony warrants. However, the suspect’s vehicle evaded the authorities, leading to a high-speed pursuit.
Suspect Detained, Passenger Escapes
During the pursuit, a passenger seated in the front of the vehicle made a daring move by jumping out of the moving car near the intersection of 44th Street and Boston. Law enforcement officers swiftly apprehended the fleeing passenger, ensuring their immediate detention.

Driver’s Reckless Actions
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle continued to evade capture, maneuvering through the central streets of Lubbock. Deputies closely observed the driver brandishing a pistol while attempting to escape the authorities.
Collision with Civilian Vehicle
During the pursuit, the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Robert Lee Trevino, recklessly side-swiped a civilian vehicle. Fortunately, the collision only resulted in minor damage to the civilian’s vehicle, with no reported injuries.
Head-On Collision with Deputy’s Vehicle
Undeterred, Trevino continued to evade law enforcement, heading down 19th Street. In a brazen act, he intentionally drove his vehicle head-on into a deputy’s patrol car. This dangerous maneuver left the deputy’s vehicle damaged.
Vehicle Disabled, Suspect Apprehended
Despite the collision, Trevino persisted, driving into a construction area, causing his vehicle to become disabled. Taking advantage of the situation, deputies swiftly moved in and successfully apprehended Trevino, bringing an end to the dangerous pursuit.
Charges Faced by Trevino
Following his arrest, Trevino was transported by EMS to a local hospital for evaluation of any potential injuries. He now faces multiple charges, including three felony warrants, evading arrest in a motor vehicle, failure to stop and render aid, resisting arrest, unlawful carrying of a weapon by a felon, and aggravated assault on a peace officer, twice.
Passenger Released without Charge
The passenger, who had jumped out of the vehicle, was promptly evaluated by EMS for any injuries. Fortunately, they were released without facing any charges.
