Individual from Morocco Charged in Connection with Ontario Bomb Threats

An individual hailing from Morocco has been charged in relation to a series of bomb threats that occurred across Ontario in early November.
Targeting Schools and Public Facilities
According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), these threats were directed towards both religious and non-religious schools located in northern and eastern regions of the province on November 1. In addition to educational institutions, various public facilities were also reported to have received threats.
Demands for Money
During the investigation, OPP revealed that the individual responsible for the bomb threats demanded money in exchange for information regarding the alleged explosives at the targeted locations.
Precautionary Measures
Although no explosive devices were found by the police, numerous buildings were either evacuated or closed for the day as a safety measure.

Arrest and Identification of Suspect
In late November, OPP announced the arrest of a suspect in Morocco, stating that they possessed “strong reason” to believe this individual was responsible for the bomb threats in Ontario.
Charges Filed Against El Hachm El Moussi
On December 27, the police charged El Hachm El Moussi, a 45-year-old from Casablanca, in connection with the investigation. The suspect now faces two counts each of uttering threats, mischief, and extortion.
Legal Proceedings
The OPP is currently working with the Federal Department of Justice to determine the appropriate process for the accused to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice. It is important to note that the charges against El Hachm El Moussi have not been proven in court.
