Accident – death – Obituary News : WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. — A Milwaukee father has been charged in connection to a tragic incident that occurred in Waukesha County, resulting in a pursuit and a rollover crash that claimed the lives of two 10-year-old boys. Paul Vinson, 29, appeared in court on Wednesday, Dec. 27, where he faced 10 felony charges, including fleeing an officer resulting in death and injury, as well as driving without a license. The court set his bond at $1.5 million.

The devastating crash took place on Wednesday, Dec. 20, shortly before midnight. According to a criminal complaint, a Waukesha County deputy tried to pull over Vinson, who was driving a vehicle without license plates on I-94 eastbound. Instead of stopping, Vinson exited at Prospect Ave. in an attempt to evade the deputy. He eventually stopped the car on Prospect south of Golf Road, but as the deputy approached, Vinson took off again.

Deputies pursued Vinson, who reached speeds of 90-95 mph and disregarded two stop signs, according to the complaint. When they caught up to him, they discovered the crashed vehicle and four individuals on the ground.

The complaint states that Vinson lost control of the vehicle, veered off the roadway, entered a ditch, and collided with a culvert. The vehicle rolled over, coming to a rest on its passenger side on Golf Road in the Town of Delafield. Tragically, two juvenile males, who were ejected from the vehicle, were pronounced dead at the scene.

In addition to the two boys, there were four other occupants in the car, including a front-seat passenger, two backseat passengers, and Vinson himself as the driver. Two of the occupants were transported to Children’s Hospital. Vinson suffered a brain bleed and fractured vertebra, while a female occupant had a collapsed lung. Furthermore, two girls experienced brain bleeds and brain swelling, and another girl had a severed arm.

The complaint reveals that Vinson and the occupants had been traveling from Minnesota, where they had picked up one of the boys. They had previously visited the Mall of America. When questioned by authorities, Vinson claimed to be unsure if he had consumed any alcohol and stated that the day was “fuzzy.” He denied any use of illicit drugs, although marijuana was found inside the vehicle.
