Floyd County Man Arrested After Threatening Family Member’s Life

FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. — A Floyd County man was taken into custody by the police on charges of making a terroristic threat and simple assault (family violence) after allegedly threatening a family member’s life during an argument.

The incident occurred on Sunday, Dec. 10, when a Floyd County police officer responded to a domestic issue at a residence at approximately 9:20 a.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, the officer observed a man fleeing from the property.

The officer interviewed a woman who stated that the man, later identified as 24-year-old Michael Griffin, had left the premises out of fear.

Another woman, claiming to be Griffin’s sister, arrived at the scene and expressed concerns for her safety. She alleged that Griffin had threatened to kill her during an argument the previous night.

According to the sister, Griffin had also threatened to damage the windows of her vehicle and had been yelling at everyone present during the altercation.

A witness who was present during the argument confirmed the sister’s account of the threats made by Griffin.

Despite conducting a search of the area, the officer was unable to locate Griffin at that time.

On Sunday, Dec. 24, a different officer patrolling in the vicinity of Lewis Road spotted an individual matching Griffin’s description standing near a parked vehicle.

The officers detained Griffin, confirmed his identity, and subsequently placed him under arrest.

Following his arrest, Griffin was booked into the Floyd County Jail.

The charges against him include simple assault (family violence) and making a terroristic threat.
