Man Recovering After Stabbing During Attempted Robbery in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A man is currently recovering after being stabbed during an attempted robbery at a residence in Lafayette on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred at around 9:33 a.m. in the 800 block of North 8th Street, prompting a swift response from the Lafayette Police Department.

The preliminary investigation suggests that the stabbing took place during an attempted robbery. The victim sustained a stab wound to the chest and required medical attention. Thankfully, the victim has since been released from the hospital after receiving treatment.

According to the Lafayette Police Department, the suspect involved in the incident has been identified as 41-year-old Milton Peggs Jr. of Lafayette. It has been determined that the suspect and the victim knew each other and were acquaintances. The police have described the stabbing as a targeted incident and have assured the public that there is no wider threat to the community.

Shortly after the incident, Lafayette police located and arrested Milton Peggs Jr. without any further issues. Peggs Jr. now faces preliminary charges of aggravated battery, battery with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery, and obstruction of justice.
