Man Allegedly Fatally Beaten in Janakpuri

New Delhi, Dec 27 (PTI) – In a shocking incident, a man was brutally beaten to death in the Janakpuri area of west Delhi due to an ongoing animosity, as per the police authorities. The incident, which occurred on Monday, has led to the arrest of two individuals, while the investigation is still underway to determine the involvement of others in the crime.

The victim, identified as Saurav Upadhyay, was a resident of Sagarpur. The Janakpuri police station received information from a local hospital regarding the arrival of a deceased individual. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vichitra Veer stated, “Upon further inquiry, it was revealed that Saurav Upadhyay had succumbed to injuries inflicted by a group of people.”

Upon interviewing the victim’s brother, Gaurav Upadhyay, it was discovered that Saurav was fatally attacked by a group of individuals with whom he had an ongoing dispute. The police further examined a witness who confirmed the complainant’s account, affirming that Bittu and Arman Khan were seen assaulting Saurav with sticks and punches.

The authorities have successfully apprehended Bittu and Khan, and are actively working towards apprehending the remaining culprits who have been identified. It has come to light during the investigation that a previous altercation had taken place between the victim and the accused, resulting in the accused being assaulted by Saurav and his friends.

DCP Vichitra Veer commented, “Based on the available evidence, it appears that the recent incident was a retaliatory act in response to the previous altercation.”
