Intensified Search Underway for Suspect Involved in Fatal Shooting Incident in Southeast Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC – The Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch officials are currently intensifying their efforts to locate and apprehend a suspect connected to a tragic shooting incident that occurred in Southeast Washington, D.C.

This unfortunate incident took place on November 4, 2023, around 3:45 p.m. in the 1400 block of L Street, Southeast. Promptly responding to a report of gunfire, officers from the First District discovered a young man who had sustained several gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate response by the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services, the victim, identified as 22-year-old Charles Towles from Southeast, DC, was pronounced dead at the scene.

As investigations continue, authorities have identified 20-year-old Tremon Jackson, also a resident of Southeast, DC, as the primary suspect in this case. Jackson is currently wanted under a DC Superior Court arrest warrant for the charge of Second Degree Murder While Armed.
