Australian Couple Killed in Lebanon Air Strike

An Australian man and his wife have tragically lost their lives in the south of Lebanon after their building was hit by an air strike, according to family members. The man, identified as 27-year-old Ibrahim Bazzi, had traveled from Sydney to the town of Bint Jbeil in Lebanon to visit his wife, Shorouk Hammoud, who had recently acquired an Australian visa. The couple had plans to start their new life together in Australia, as confirmed by their relatives.

Reports from local media in Lebanon suggest that an Israeli warplane fired a missile at several homes in Bint Jbeil overnight. The Israeli military has stated that it was targeting Hezbollah, a militant group based in Lebanon, in response to rockets and missiles being launched into northern Israel. However, the ABC has not been able to independently verify if the missile that killed Mr. Bazzi and his wife was fired by Israel.
