Rowdy with 40 Criminal Cases, Including Four Murders, Hacked to Death in Broad Daylight in Kancheepuram

Rowdy Hacked to Death

CHENNAI: In a shocking incident, a notorious 35-year-old rowdy with a criminal record of 40 cases, including four murders, was brutally hacked to death by a gang of four individuals in broad daylight on Tuesday. The incident took place in Kancheepuram, a city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The police suspect that the motive behind the crime is an ongoing rivalry.

The victim, identified as Prabhakaran, a resident of Pallavarmedu in Kancheepuram, was riding his bike back home after attending a court hearing and visiting the Siva Kanchi police station in connection with a previous murder case. As he was on his way, he was intercepted by four men in a car.

Sensing danger, Prabhakaran tried to escape by riding his bike at high speed. However, one of the assailants threw a sickle at him, causing him to lose control and fall from the two-wheeler. In an attempt to save his life, Prabhakaran started running, but the gang chased him down.

“The gang cornered Prabhakaran on a narrow street and attacked him with sharp weapons. After the brutal assault, the four assailants fled the scene,” said an investigating officer.

Onlookers immediately alerted the police, who arrived at the crime scene and sent Prabhakaran’s body to the government hospital for postmortem. Inspector Annadurai of Siva Kanchi police station registered a case of murder.

A police team, led by Kancheepuram district superintendent of police M Sudhakar and additional superintendent of police Velladurai, initiated the preliminary investigation at the scene of the crime.

Preliminary inquiries suggest that Prabhakaran may have been killed due to a previous enmity. Four years ago, a DMDK worker named Saravanan was murdered, and the police suspect that either his family or friends may have been involved in Prabhakaran’s killing. “We have detained two suspects in connection with the murder,” added the officer.

The Siva Kanchi Police have registered a case of murder and launched a search operation to apprehend the attackers.

This shocking incident has sent shockwaves through the community and highlights the need for increased security measures and effective crime prevention strategies in the region. The police are determined to bring the culprits to justice and ensure the safety of the citizens.
