NORTH LAS VEGAS: Man Suspected of Driving Stolen Vehicle Arrested and Identified in Teen’s Death

In a recent development, the North Las Vegas Police Department announced on Wednesday that they have identified the suspect involved in a fatal collision that claimed the life of a teenager. The incident occurred six months ago, and the suspect has now been identified as 26-year-old Bryan Barajas.

Barajas was already in custody at the Clark County Detention Center on unrelated charges when he was identified as the suspect in the fatal collision that took place on June 20. Following this identification, Barajas has been re-booked on additional charges related to the incident.

The charges brought against Barajas include grand larceny of an automobile, possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless driving resulting in death, two counts of failure to stop at an accident, two counts of failure to give information at an accident, and driving under a revoked driver’s license.

The collision occurred on the afternoon of June 20 when Barajas and another driver were reportedly driving recklessly as they approached a four-way stop at Belmont Street and Carey Avenue in North Las Vegas. According to the police, Barajas, who was driving a Cadillac Escalade, failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with a pickup truck. The impact redirected the Escalade into another SUV before it ultimately struck a teenage girl on the sidewalk.

Immediately after the crash, Barajas fled from the scene, leaving behind the injured teenager. The other driver involved in the reckless driving prior to the collision was arrested on traffic-related charges but has not been publicly identified.
