Woman Murdered in Jaipur Hotel: Police Launch Manhunt for Suspects

Jaipur Hotel Murder

JAIPUR: In a tragic incident that highlights the concerning issue of women’s safety, a 25-year-old woman was brutally murdered and her friend injured after being mowed down by an SUV following a confrontation inside a hotel in Malviya Nagar, Jaipur. The incident took place on Tuesday morning, despite the new government’s pledge to prioritize women’s safety.

The accused, identified as Mangesh Arora, a Haryana native and garment business owner, fled the scene in his SUV after committing the crime. The victim, Uma Suthar, hailing from Neemuch district in Madhya Pradesh, was working in event management in Jaipur. Her friend, Raj Kumar Singh, sustained injuries and is currently admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The murder occurred around 5:30 am. According to the FIR, Raj and Suthar had visited the hotel at 10 pm on Monday to check on an ongoing work for a rooftop restaurant. Later, they went to the hotel’s restaurant for dinner, where they encountered Arora, who was accompanied by his girlfriend and had been drinking at a table for nearly an hour, as stated by Raj in his police statement.

Police Launch Investigation and Manhunt

The Jawahar Circle Police Station SHO, Dalbeer Singh, informed that the police are actively trying to identify the suspects involved in the crime. They are currently analyzing CCTV footage from the hotel and surrounding areas to track down the culprits. “Our teams are also reviewing CCTV footage from previous incidents to determine if there is any connection to this crime,” stated a police officer.

This unfortunate incident is not the first of its kind in Jaipur. The city has witnessed several instances of brazen chain-snatching, which have raised concerns about the safety of residents, especially women. Just last month, a 54-year-old woman lost her life while trying to defend herself from two bike-borne criminals who attempted to steal her purse in the Muhana area of the city.
