Deputies have reported the discovery of a lifeless body near Johnson Cemetery Road in the Chattatoogaville area. The deceased has now been identified as 50-year-old Sherrie Leigh Little from Summerville.

During the search of Little’s residence for clues regarding her untimely demise, officials stumbled upon compelling evidence that supports the theory suggesting she was murdered within the confines of her own home before being subsequently discarded.

By the close of the day, authorities had gathered sufficient evidence to press charges against 44-year-old John Wayne Siffles for the murder of Sherrie Leigh Little.

On Sunday, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a joint operation involving multiple agencies, including the GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigation), was executed to serve an arrest warrant at a location along Highland Avenue, where Siffles was believed to be hiding, several blocks away from the crime scene.

Reports indicate that Siffles vehemently refused to surrender and, despite the utilization of various non-lethal measures such as OC Spray and the deployment of Tasers, he resorted to brandishing a knife in a threatening manner towards law enforcement personnel.

As a result, law enforcement officers were compelled to use lethal force, shooting Siffles. He was then swiftly transported to the hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.

This tragic incident marks the 101st officer-involved shooting case this year that the GBI has been called upon to investigate.
