Man Allegedly Murders Neighbour During Violent Fight in Ogun State

A tragic incident occurred in the Itele Awori area of Ogun State on Saturday, where a man identified as Monday Ogbole allegedly killed his neighbour, Murtala Jimoh, during a violent altercation. The details surrounding the cause of the fight remain unknown at this time, but according to a police source quoted by PUNCH Metro, the suspect took the life of the victim using a stick.

Both Ogbole and Jimoh were known to be neighbours, and their disagreement escalated into a brutal duel. Despite the efforts of other residents to separate the two men, their attempts were in vain. Observers had hoped that the confrontation had ended when the suspect sought refuge in his own compound, but what happened next shocked everyone present.

The suspect reappeared armed with a hefty stick, causing panic among those trying to mediate the situation. In a swift and brutal act, Ogbole allegedly struck Jimoh on the head with the stick, causing him to collapse with blood pouring from his injured skull. The scene was horrifying, leaving witnesses in a state of shock.

Immediately realizing the severity of the situation, the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital. However, tragically, he passed away while being transported to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital in Lagos, where he had been referred for further treatment.

On Monday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Odutola Omolola, confirmed the incident. The suspect has been apprehended, and once the preliminary investigation is concluded, the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department. Omolola assured the victim’s family that justice would be served, mentioning that an autopsy would be conducted and the body had been deposited at the Ota General Hospital morgue.
