The Goa police have taken into custody two men for allegedly soliciting sexual favors from a woman and her 24-year-old daughter and subjecting them to molestation on multiple occasions in a village near Mapusa town, approximately 10 km from the city, according to an official statement released on Tuesday.

The two individuals accused in this case have been identified as Shahrukh Kareli (24) and Mohammad Ilahi (25). They were arrested on Monday, as confirmed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Mapusa) Jivba Dalvi.

According to Dalvi, “The victims, a 52-year-old woman, and her daughter, reside in the same neighborhood as the perpetrators. The woman lodged a complaint stating that the two men would verbally abuse and use offensive language towards her and her daughter. On numerous occasions, they also demanded sexual favors and issued threats.”

Based on the complaint, the accused duo has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), and 506 (criminal intimidation). The case has been registered at the Colvale police station.
