On Christmas Day, a tragic incident occurred on Route 44 in Salisbury, resulting in the loss of one life and leaving another individual with severe injuries. The Connecticut State Police reported that a 20-year-old man from Canaan was driving eastbound on Route 44 at approximately 3 p.m. Unfortunately, he lost control of his vehicle, veered across the westbound lane, ultimately colliding with a tree.

The young man sustained grave injuries as a result of the crash and was swiftly transported to Sharon Hospital for immediate medical attention. Meanwhile, a passenger in the vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Avery Nelson from Norfolk, tragically succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

The authorities have initiated a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this devastating incident on Route 44.
